Surrendering control isn't giving up, it's opening up. It means living in a state of grace by letting go of your attachment to outcome and becoming a co-creator with the universe. Imagine raising your sails and allowing the wind to move you.

"Always say 'yes' to the present moment... Surrender to what is. Say 'yes' to life - and see how life starts suddenly to start working for you rather than against you.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

ACTION STEPS

The ego has very little patience. For instance, if you were to decide that you wanted to get in shape it might take on the role of drill sergeant to get the job done quickly. If your body didn't respond well to this approach you might give up on that goal and move on to the next. Surrendering control allows you to accept where your body is and honor it with the respect it deserves to keep moving in the direction of your fitness goals.

Whenever you embark on a creative project it's important to remember that creative energy is always flowing to you, and you are the vessel through which it is being expressed. By surrendering to the creative process you'll be able to enjoy the whole journey rather than just the final stage of completion.

Living in a state of grace is allowing things to happen rather than making them happen. The difference is that you're trusting your soul to guide you instead of relying on your ego to drive you. There is always less struggle and more ease when you surrender control and allow your soul to be in charge.

One of the biggest challenges in a relationship is surrendering control. When you're aware that you're trying to change or control another person for you to be happy you'll realize that you're resisting 'what is.' Stress is resistance to 'what is' and that can make a relationship stressful. Surrender control and notice the upward shift in your energy.

Allow your body to choose your sense of style. Surrender to how it wants to express itself each day. There will be days when your body wants to wear vibrant colors, and other days it may need to feel more grounded by wearing black, gray, brown, or beige.

Does your home feel like a welcoming space where you can surrender control and feel safe and secure? Too much clutter, disorganization, furniture, and decor all have an effect on how you feel. Even the people you have in your personal space can have a positive or negative impact. Make sure you feel at peace in your home.

Think of your body, mind, heart, and spirit as a team that works together for your highest good. If there is an issue in one area you have inner resources to resolve it. For example, if you're having a health issue, tune into the wisdom of your spirit, trust the guidance of your heart, and then allow your mind to determine the best course of action to heal your body. This is how you surrender control and open up to receiving support.
